This is another of my “inspiration came to me while sitting at Steep & Brew” sketches. A few years back, after watching Julie Taymor’s Titus, I became fascinated with the image of the daughter who was so mutilated that she could neither talk nor touch—she was left with sticks for hands. That led to this doodle of a female figure grafted to the ground, hands mutilated, and mouth sewn shut. It reminds me vaguely of certain allegories of justice.
